Inspiration for Film Magazine Cover

When planning the design and style I want to create for the promotional magazine cover for 'Fear and Desire of the Strange'. Highly successful magazines such as Empire magazine have been very helpful in gaining ideas for my own design:

Analysis:
- an extremely bold main cover image with eye-catching colours which appear to illuminate the whole cover.
-The masthead with the magazines name 'Empire' stands out greatly due to its size, positioning and colour. The red contrasts with the rest of the cover and therefore an audience will notice it immediately.
- The language used by the plug ''The Ultimate Guide' oozes its importance and greatness over other magazine covers.
-The yellow text of which are also plugs with the statements 'Oscar Special!' and How was your 2012?' both cleverly use language to entice the audience firstly by the 'special' which signifies that no other magazine will offer this and then by the rhetorical question that a reader may be interested in finding out why 'Empire' are questioning them.
- The tag line that reads under the main mast head is- Magazine of the Year'. An obviously important title for any company to achieve and is situated near the most noticeable area (the masthead) to draw attention to it.

First draft of potential film poster/ magazine cover design:

I wanted simple image that people will easily understand and will be able to interpret the storyline straight away. The idea of the switch is the main focus on both Jay and Nina therefore it is necessary that they feature on the poster.

Total Film is a British based film magazine which publishes once every month. It provides information on all the latest film releases, trailers, DVD's and Blue-Ray's. Key features for each month include:

Critics mark out of ten the latest trailers and films and give a detailed analysis. It also provides previous film coverage from both the UK and US from decades ago- in sighting young audiences into different films and appealing to the older generation of readers who may remember the films. Additionally sneak peaks into the upcoming films are offered/ exclusive spoilers are revealed.

-Lounge: This includes customer and expert reviews on the latest DVD and video game releases.

Other games such as Now and Then, Crossword and Status Seeking are also included making the issue a lengthy time of consumption and the reader will stay entertained beyond just the images and text offered in the magazine.
