This post explores the methods my team and I used when deciding the name of our film teaser trailer-
This mind map shows the various names we considered for our trailer as we had already concluded on the body swap theme; therefore we needed a name that represented that. Many ideas were discarded swiftly as some team members did not like them or they just didn't seem to fit our film for example 'The Conversion' of which we thought could be considered a religious connotation and therefore fail to appeal to our target audience.
The most considered options were 'Teen Transportation', 'Transportation of the Mind' and 'The Fear and Desire for the Strange'.
Therefore we needed a universal opinion from external sources so we asked members of our school which they preferred as they encompassed our target audience of teenagers.
In total we asked 44 students from our school with a range of ages from 15-19 years old and here are the results:
Votes for Film Name
This result clearly indicates a higher demand for 'The Fear and Desire for the Strange' as our film trailer title. Funnily enough this was our team favourite however we wanted an added type of It beat the other options by a fairly great amount which suggested to me that added comments as to why this was so were necessary-
''The Fear and Desire for the Strange is really unique and I felt that it would appeal to a teenage audience as it is original and could be more noticeable''. Lauren Mackie, 18
''The third option reminds me of really cool indie films with unusual names and content and are always something new and exciting''. Alice McCarthy, 17
''I was tempted to vote for the Transformation of the Mind but when I considered which I would be more swayed into watching I reconsidered and went for the third title because it seemed less cliche' than the others''. Joe Robson, 15
